Fontana Landschaftsarchitektur brought together the knowledge of the different experts when designing the new island. A quiet park and space for sports and games, a refuge for nature, a spot on the water and an engineering development to provide flood defences: functional requirements became aspects that moulded the design \u2013 the park world oscillates between the contrasts. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While the disappearance of land that is not built on is lamented all over Switzerland, a new island has emerged in the Sch\u00fcss river in Biel. After a long construction period, the Stebler-Kanal was flooded on 18 May. And with that the redesigned piece of land finally became an island.
