Double Award!

Every five years the two Basel cantons jointly issue the ‘Auszeichnung guter Bauten’ (‘good building award’) – which of course includes built landscapes. We are proud to have made it on to the list with two projects in 2018.

One of the award-winning projects, the Klybeckquai in Basel, is one that has given a piece of former terra incognita on the Rhine back to the residents of Basel: part of the Swiss port on the Rhine became a temporary promenade on the water with exciting spaces for temporary uses. In the Magnetareal in Pratteln an industrial zone dominated by cars and green buffer strips became a safe working place for people, with space and guided routes for heavy goods traffic.

The exhibition accompanying the award ran from 31 October to 12 November 2018. It was located on the Kleiner Theaterplatz in Basel and on the square in front of the government building in Liestal.
