Guided tours by Massimo Fontana in the Merian Gardens

From 2017 to 2022, Fontana Landscape Architecture renovated and gently redesigned the Vorder Brüglingen section of the famous Merian Gardens on behalf of the Christoph Merian Foundation – making it fit for the future and the needs of today’s visitors.

In the process, many things had to be weighed up and reconciled: Respect for the historical park structures and at the same time understanding for new needs; the different requirements of garden culture, scientific plant collections and nature conservation; the demands for recreation and cultural education; the necessary irrigation on the one hand and resource preservation on the other hand.

Massimo Fontana will give an insight into these and other topics on two guided tours within Open House Basel 2023: On Saturday, 6 May at 1 and 5 pm. Registration at openhouse-basel.org. Timely registration is recommended.
