Lecture at the Institute for Architecture, FHNW, Basel
In his lecture “A house on a slope” on 22 October 2013 Massimo Fontana has presented the “Haus Ackermann” built in Therwil in 1963 . He has provided insights into the modernist period on which the concept of the house is based and drew parallels to the modernist architecture of the 1950s and 1960s built in California. In an analysis of the design process he has illustrated the use of topographical conditions, but above all the interplay between landscapearchitcture and architecture, functionality and aesthetics, interior and exterior space, which made this multi-layered work of art possible in the first place.
