Regenerating Basel’s Kannenfeldpark

The Kannenfeldpark with its old conifers that date back to when the park was still a cemetery, and its impressively diverse tree population is popular among locals and experts alike. In 2014 it was declared Basel’s most beautiful park by the magazine Annabelle and in 2016 it was included in the publication ‘Die schönsten Gärten und Parks der Schweiz’ (‘Switzerland’s Most Beautiful Gardens and Parks’) by the Schweizer Heimatschutz. Now Basel city council has guaranteed the necessary funding in order to give the historic park a new playground, install new drinking fountains, and to give the 1980s’ rose garden a professional and contemporary makeover.
