1st Place: “Meet”, Airport City Zurich

In collaboration with the architects of Sou Fujimoto, Paris, Fontana has won a special competition at Zurich Airport. “Meet” is to be the forerunner of a completely new type of urban development: the iconic, suburban centre that combines work, shopping, sport, culture, health services and much more, and does not close itself off like a mall, but opens up and responds to its surroundings.

The winning design by Fujimoto and Fontana convinced the jury with its “Meet in the forest” concept, which combines outdoor space and building structure into a permeable mesh and connects it to the banks of the Glatt.
