Die building co-operative Bernstrasse Luzern takes the next hurdle

Now that the two building co-operatives have approved the funds there is nothing standing in the way of implementing the co-operative neighbourhood anymore. The planning application is scheduled for the summer. The construction project is then to begin in early 2020 with the flats being ready to move into by 2022. The outside spaces have great significance in the planning process as the site is on a busy street in a neighbourhood with little public outside space. The new square on the street is intended to invigorate the whole quarter. The park behind the buildings will also remain open and accessible to visitors. Deep front-garden strips facing both the street and the park will create privacy near the buildings. There will also be play equipment and communal gardens in more sheltered green spaces.
