A Green Façade for the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute

The new building occupied by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute TPH will be located in the Baselink complex, an innovative industrial estate / development zone in Allschwil.

The green façade featuring climbing plants was already a fundamental component of the exterior look in the winning competition submission by the architects Kunz und Mösch. The green dress is not just an eloquent visual expression of the building’s interior, it is also a valuable contribution to the building’s climate and the surrounding microclimate.

This living wall will take physical shape in its design in the next phase. Fontana Landschaftsarchitektur was commissioned with creating the green façade and designing the courtyards and outside spaces. Construction is scheduled to start in 2019, allowing the institute to move in in 2020.
