The dark, imposing new build with its three 80-metre towers on an elongated pedestal building can be seen from far and wide. Almost 300 flats, a hotel with a spa, restaurants and other businesses on the ground floor will soon draw in large numbers of people. And they won’t just need indoor spaces but outdoor spaces too.
When planning them it was important to use the sparse space in among the dense built-up environment as efficiently as possible: planting rows of trees in front of the main entrance, designing a small undulating park whose elevations look almost as if they could be real geological features but which actually serve to conceal bicycle parking. Finally, there are a number of roof terraces with planting schemes at lofty heights. Every day the exterior design produced by Fontana comes closer to its full implementation.
