Competition Success at Bruderholz, Basel

The SRF-Studios in Bruderholz were built in 1940 and subsequently expanded. The courtyard of the studio buildings has since become home to a quacking, buzzing community: water and vegetation provide valuable shelter in an urban setting to people, plants and animals. The residential neighbourhood designed by Morger Partner Architekten and Fontana Landschaftsarchitektur will again create an open courtyard situation with valuable water features: the subject of the outside space will be reinterpreted; it will be given a new architectural backdrop and a new use. The Swiss broadcaster will move to a new venue in 2018, vacating its current premises. It is not yet known when construction on the residential buildings can begin. The winning project and the four other project suggestions will be presented from 15 March to 1 April in an exhibition in Studio Basel (entrance hall of the SRF-Studio, Novarastrasse 2, Basel).
