Co-operative living at the Felix Platter Areal, Basel

The 36,000 square metres in the middle of the Hegenheim quarter in Basel, between the new Felix Platter Hospital, which will be completed in 2018, and the old 1967 hospital building, which will be retained and transformed to become part of the residential project, will feature more than 500 flats, business premises and communal usage along with the associated green and open spaces. The client, a consortium of more than 25 co-operatives, wishes to develop a model project capable of giving future-proof answers to the current questions and problems faced by people living in the city. Work began in March 2017 and must be completed by the end of August. In the autumn of 2017 the winners and the results will be publicly presented.
